Nashtownlogo

Nashtown is a photo-documentary of one year in Nashville, TN, as seen through the eyes of a small group of young men who fully immersed themselves in the city's always-on nightlife, charity balls, and concerts.  This is about the places, the events, and the people that hosted, attended, and (at times) ruined them.  Nashtown is about life in a city.

Partypeople
January 26 - So after everyone was good and partied up from the Nightlife awards, all the nominees, winners, presenters, performers, and general crackheads headed over to Arial, the new venue on the top of Paradise Park downtown.  If you haven't been there, well, you probably won't ever get to go -- hahaha no I'm just joking...I'm sure you won't ever get to go.  Hahhaha no I'm just joking...if you have a tight green skirt thing that looks like a sweater with sparkles and you also have nice lips (and you decide to call me after you're ready to leave), then you can go.

But back to the party - it was quite fun.  It reminded me of the big party that the drama club in high school had after they put on the King & I.  I wasn't in the play, but they made it sound like it was going to be the best party ever because the people who made the whole play so fun were all going to be there.  So it was kind of like that here, I guess; it was all the people who make Nashville fun (after 9pm), getting together after 12pm and causing a whole lot of general ruckus.  I think we must have played spin the bottle and seven minutes in heaven for like a whole three hours.

Cheek

January 25 - The Nashville Bacchanalian Society threw its first get together out at Cheekwood last night.  Nearly 1,000 people strolled in for the event, which involved small teams of 2-3 bringing and then sampling various labels of Pinot Noir.  Margaret Cooper was there for all the action.

Nna

January 25 - So last night was bout damn near insane.  One one side of town, you had the Nashville Nightlife Awards (above); on the other, at Cheekwood, about 1,000 people squished in for a mammoth wine tasting event.  Because I am a superhero, we made it to both, basically simultaneously.  However, because this particular superhero took too many shots, his powers have been somewhat diminished and it might be a bit later tonight before the Cheekwood shots appear.  Special thanks to Leah Hale and Telisha from Vibe for hosting a great event and afterparty last night.

Bill

January 23 - Clinton dropped by Fisk University on Monday night.  Though it was slated for 6pm, the man didn't get moving until 7:45 or so; however, he showed up in a hot pink tie, so everyone quickly forgave him.  The former president gave listeners an education on a variety of issues and took audience questions well into the night.  Big ups, Mr. President.

Ok

January 11 - This group called Lord T and Eloise rocked Mercy Lounge last night, and they were good as all you know I can't even tell you how good it was.  I heard they put worms in their burgers but it's still the best thing I've ever eaten.  And I got the pics, you know...like back in the day.  I mean, the real fly stat

Ny

January 2 - Ok guys.  We made it.  Time to detox.

Mercy

December 23 - The buddytown crowd pulled together A Holy Night at Mercy Lounge last night.  Snow fell from the ceiling and people kissed under the warm glow of colored lights

December 17 - HGTV's Design Star Josh Johnson opened his Hendersonville home on Saturday night for his annual Christmas party.  About 100 or so people crammed in for drinks, food, dancing, and to check out a glowing angel that floated above the bathtub.

December 15
- McFaddens on Friday night

Belmont

December 14 - So I just had to get out of the house the other night.  The wife made some kind of something awful for dinner and then she tried to trick me into watching Lifetime again by saying it was a movie about guns and tanks, but I know better.  So...went downtown a bit and met these crazy Belmont kids just wrapping up exams.  I was at the gas station getting some cupcakes and a tallboy and noticed that they had five kegs in their truck.  So I said whaddup and they said that if I laid on top of them in the back and held them all together that I could come.  Right On, Deal.  I looked at the cashier and winked, "I'm going to just put this tallboy back...party to go to, hun."

Flipper

December 10 - So we avoided all Christmas parties this weekend and stalked Dewey Cox instead.  He's much taller in person than you would think, but we were like 200 feet away, perched on the top of a delivery truck and using our old SpyTech equipment...so we can't be for sure.  But let's just talk about the picture above.  I wasn't there (or don't remember), but let's just look at it for a minute.  As far as I can tell, it appears as though there was a girl-throwing contest at Decades on Friday night.  This one looks like she was just caught and by all accounts, it looks like a solid catch...what with the beer remaining right-side up and the guy keeping his knees bent.  Nice form.  Bravo to everyone involved.

Kellies

December 3 - The westside crowd hit up a giant Christmas party at Ms. Kellie's over the weekend.  It was about 150 people in very impressive (and festive) attire...and one guy in a cut-off and a cowboy hat.  And then of course me, there, all alone in the back, playing my old Gameboy and trying to get to level 9 on Tetris so that I'd have something show the girls that I wanted to say hello to.  It took me like three hours, though, and by then most of them had left and I could barely speak English.  Good thing the wife still loves me (on Tuesdays).

Sschool

December 3 - Brent Young and crowd kicked off the first installment of Sunday School at Aerial last night.  A couple hundred gathered there on top of Paradise Park for a night of drinks and singing.

On Saturday we also managed to make it out to the big Christmas party at Ms. Kellies, and we'll have some pictures up from that in the morning.  We've got to spread out your dosage, you know.  You addict.

November 30 - Ah another night out on Wednesday at B23.  Always amusing, always fun.  But I know what you are here for.  You just want to see this, don't you?

Cord1    Cord2

November 25 - Honey...honey...how bout you go make me a sammich?  Get the turkey...no...no, what...i can't hear you from all the way 'n here...'n put some dressing and maybe some of that gravy.  Alright, there you are.  There you are.

I hope you got all fattened up this past week.  When we see you next, we wanna have something to grab holduv and love on, you know.

So we've got some pictures for you to click through and look at and not-do-work for a few minutes with.  The first is actually from last week at Sonny 3's birthday jam; the second is the continuation of our Nashville Pin-Up Girls series, and this time, it's the lovely Corinne...photography by some of the city's best.

Brand November 19 - A bunch of us made our way out towards Gallatin last night to spend some time with KT Keen and Brandon.  They hosted a great pre-Thanksgiving potluck, complete with four turkeys (the eating kind), three hams, and more pie than we knew what to do with.  Oh...and some pink shots.  Outstanding time.

Art November 12 - So is it just me or is it weird that it is already Nov 12th?  Let's slow this party down...maybe put on some slow jams, you know.  But anyway...fun weekend out on the town.  The Buddytown boys were at it again by hosting an robot invasion at Gibson on Friday, followed up by a  pretty sizable dance party at Trace (yes, at Trace).  But the  highlight was definitely Artrageous, the annual benefit gallery crawl.  Nashville scenesters and party people took to the vans, busses, and pink limos to hop around to eight galleries from 6-10, before ending up at City Hall, which was transformed into Oz.  We must say that it was quite impressive, what with the good-witch-Glenda drag queens and balloon-shaped dj booth.  Come here, my pretty.

Tink

November 9 - Last night went into the early morning hours with people spread out between Layla and Play, where the 14th best dj in the world was spinning.  Oh...and it was Tink's birthday.  Happy birthday little lady.

Cage

November 6 - So there was this fashion show the other night down at Play.  Some of the city's best designers were there..and the models, they strutted their things down a caged runway.  It was wild, and we got our hair did just so we'd feel the part.   And oh, did we.

The CMAs are tomorrow.  We might stay in and bake some goods.

Lh1_2 November 5 - Good morning.  Happy Monday.  You will sell this house today.  You will sell...this house...today.  We believe in you.

So that was a pretty big weekend.  We had two friends (there aren't many of them) in from LA, so we went out all big willie style.  We started off at the airport...wait...you don't care; we started off at Code Blue on Friday night to celebrate Titan girl and all around hottie Lindsey Hamlett's bday.  It was big fun:  Badboy mindub was flipping it, so we asked if we could rub it down and then he said yes and so we did.  Then we cranked that robo cop.  And jocked on some haters.  It went downhill from there.  I think I basically proposed to two or three different people.  The wife was none too pleased.

By Saturday she had chilled out and so we rolled down Jefferson to head to the TSU Step Show.  We drive an old pickup truck so our natural state of kicking it is on dubs already, but let's just say this - people were rolling on 26s and 28s all up and down the block.  Maybe next year.

740 November 1 - So we tried something new last night.  Instead of staying one place all night (and drinking ourselves silly and then making out with you), we did what they call bar hopping.  We started out on the eastside and then rounded out the evening at play.  We saw a good many interesting costumes and people that were wearing them.  And just as we were about to leave, out of nowhere came this amazing creature with golden bits

Cityhall October 29 - Ok so maybe we did make it to City Hall on Saturday night, after all.  Maybe we just didn't remember or maybe it is because we were disguised as an invisible person and couldn't even see ourselves.  Did you see a floating camera?  That was us.  Yes, it makes sense now.  Come on over here, crazily iridescent blue eyes.

Rickelanor
October 28
- Yow we love Halloween.  Everyone gets all insane and awesome and even the grouchy people suddenly become interesting.  And the girls who act all normal and reserved for 364 days out of the year suddenly decide to turn into vixens.  And such was the case on Saturday night.  The wife and I got gussied up and made our way to Belle Meade for Rick, Eleanor, and Trish's annual bash and oh my...perhaps among the best parties we've been to this year.  After getting all hopped up on candycorn and tootsie rolls, we ventured over to the eastside for the cirque du slosse gathering, where a hundred or so people were flittering about and huddling around two 300lb ice luges.  Ah, how we love it.  Evidently there was also something going on at City Hall, but we didn't make it.   Fidelio
